Silica sand is one of the most widely used kinds of sand on the planet. It can be used for a variety of purposes. Sand is a broad name for broken down granules of minerals or rocks that are technically between one-sixteenth and two millimeters in diameter and fall between silt and gravel on the size scale. There are many different types of sand in the world, each having its own composition and characteristics.
Quartz is a specific lattice structure of silicon dioxide, SiO2. Silica is another term for SiO2, is quartz that has been broken down into tiny granules over time by the action of water and wind. These granules may be found in most non-tropical locations of the planet and can be used for a variety of purposes.
